Pocatello Amateur Radio Club VOICE  repeaters  Aug 2026

Note:
(1)  Scout repeaters (147.06 to 448.1) can be linked
(2) ALL repeaters use a  100Hz CTCSS (PL) tone

(3) ALL repeaters use the standard offset 600kHz VHF  or  5mHz UHF
(4) ALL EXCEPT 447.1 has the  123 talkback function.

on June 30, 2026   a group of intrepid hams, ventured the 30 mile trip to the top of Scout Mountain, to replace the entire 147.060 repeater system,  which was first installed in 2002. 8 MILES of that trip is on very rough rocky, sometimes muddy roads, very slow going. it takes 1 1/2 hours drive.           Our trip started a 8am we got home at 6:30pm  +/- The new radio equipment was donated to PARC by Brad N7FLM , its a Daniels radio, made in Canada. The new radio rack  includes not only the 147.06  replacement radio but a new repeater on UHF   448.1.  Brad tuned and tweaked the new radio. which is controlled by an RC210 skillfully programmed by Cody W7YJ. Two new antennas were donated by Leandro N7LDD, they are Diamond X-30 Two antennas were mounted vertically from each other, this configuration eliminated the use of Cavity filters. The  were never optimal, but did the job for many years,  HOWEVER,  the new system should be MUCH better. The antenna supports were custom made by Jon AC7JK. For each antenna there are two supports, Top and Bottom.  The top support holds the upper part of the antenna so that the constant wind, and possible ice buildup won't break the antenna off. There will be a description of the supports under a picture below Jon AC7JK and Mike WA7TT spent most of the day,  as in HOURS and HOURS on the tower installing the new antennas and upgraded the DC cabling for the solar panels,  This was not easy work.  the new parts should outlast most of us involved,  it is truly a excellent design and installation. The entire system is powered by some HI tech batteries, which were installed last year. VATRER 100 Ah each, two in the system . Everything went perfect, well almost Due to a slight navigation error,  TAKING THE WRONG road on the way down KØIP's vehicle became high centered on a LARGE ROCK, in a rain storm. Anyway, after battling the rain, some hale, and the small creek that developed right next to the vehicle,  N7FLM and AC7JK & IP and a good car jack, jammed enough 'stuff',   rocks and tree limbs under the back tire to liberate the vehicle from the rock.  We all escaped with our lives !!  a bit wet and muddy, but again moving down the mountain.

NOT TO FORGET ALL THE WORK DONE SINCE 2002, IN MAINTAINING THE  RADIOS AND SEVERAL DIFFERENT ANTENNAS, and lots of different battery systems,   MOST OF THE ANTENNAS WERE DESTROYED BY THE WEATHER . as sad as it is  , 4 of these guys are now SK  in 2026	Originally installed   10 Oct 2002,   a GE radio     decommissioned June 2026   installed by K9GP, KØIP, KK7AT, KB7UIK, KD7WHC IT worked for 23 years, and was still going! Kinport repeater Changes

WE, PARC has two locations on Kinport     "old" and "new"  for lack of a better description
see pictures below

in the old building PARC has the 449.1 repeater,
it runs at a bit over 1 watt out,  it is linked to the 6 meter FM calling frequency 52.525 mHz.
50Watts to a 1/4 wave mobile whip using the tin roof as a ground plane.     it's linked to 6 meters  24x7  
also an APRS digipeater

in the new building is 447.1 repeater/remote base. A gift from the Estate of K7NEY it's output is about 1 watt,  with a 16 channel 2 meter link.. 
generally its parked on 146.52mHz  the two meter national calling frequency, it can be changed to 15 other channels ,
To get the channel changed you need to contact KØIP  or  WA7TT.

also the 147.36 repeater/remote     it can be linked to 29.6mHz, the 10 meter FM calling frequency, using a spring mounted Dipole ,   
abt 50 watts.
